UK congenital heart surgery survival rates now online
UK parents of children with congenital heart disease can now check surgery survival rates online. The website provides information about surgical and catheter procedures from congenital heart units across the UK and shows the number and type of procedure carried out each year at a national and individual hospital level. The figures do not rate individual surgeons and are not adjusted for risk. Commenting on the website, Dr John Gibbs, president of the British Congenital Cardiac Association, said: "Open sharing of data will help to identify best practice and will contribute to the further improvement of results of treatment for our patients."
