Cardiologist honoured on Australia Day

A cardiologist from Melbourne has been recognised in this year’s Australia Day honours. Dr John Arthur Fuller was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his service to medicine, particularly in the treatment of coronary artery disease. Dr Fuller created a database system nearly 30 years ago that has now recorded details of 35,000 cardiac surgical procedures from various Melbourne hospitals. The database has significantly improved treatment outcomes for coronary heart disease and the model is now being introduced on a national level. Dr Fuller tells Cardiology Update more.
